Lana Whiskeyjack

Public Speaker

Guided by the teachings and courage of my ancestors, I speak to bridge the distance between trauma and strength. My words are an extension of my art, intended to unsilence our stories, reclaim our beauty, and seed hope for the next generations.

Topics include but not limited to:

  • The Art of Reclamation: Transforming intergenerational trauma into ancestral strength through visual storytelling.

  • Reclaiming Indigenous Beauty: Challenging colonial gaze and celebrating Indigenous beauty within our living stories.

  • Womb Stories & Umbilical Connections: A deep dive into nêhiyaw womanhood, hysterectomy, pleasure, sexual health, and body sovereignty.

  • Nurturing the Spirit: rites of passage, kinship systems, Matriarchal governance and leadership, and intimacy.

  • Research as Ceremony: Integrating community-based research with Indigenous protocols, artistic practices and inquiry.

Research

Lana's research process is rooted in the belief that community-led inquiry and art are powerful tools for revitalisation, restoration and reclamation. By weaving together nêhiyaw ways of knowing with academic research, Lana explore's the deep connections between kinship, gender diversity, and our sacred rites of passage.

Central to her strength-based methods is "ethical relationality", the practice of honouring the Spirit in every step of the research process. Her current work bridges ancestral wisdom with modern scientific inquiry, seeking to create holistic pathways for community well-being. Ultimately, her vision is to support body sovereignty and health through a lens that honours both Spirit, self-determination and evidence.

Facilitation

Lana Whiskeyjack offers expert facilitation situated at the nexus of community-led inquiry and arts-based praxis. With a focus on ethical relationality, she guides groups through complex discussions regarding kinship, cultural determinants of health, and institutional reconciliation. Lana’s methodology harmonizes Indigenous ways of knowing with evidence-based frameworks, ensuring that every session is not only productive but culturally grounded and spiritually courageous space for all participants.
